About SARA
The Sydney Area Residents Association (SARA) in Crewe, Cheshire, is a community-driven group dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in the Sydney area. Their initiatives include organizing volunteer activities such as litter picking and maintaining a community orchard, which was established with the support of a £1,050 donation from Anwyl Homes.
SARA actively engages with local authorities to address community concerns. For instance, they have advocated for the installation of a pedestrian crossing on Sydney Road near Herbert Street to improve safety for residents.
Additionally, the association has opposed certain planning applications, such as the proposed conversion of the Old School Hall on Vincent Street into a twelve-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO), citing potential negative impacts on the community.
Regular meetings are held to discuss ongoing projects and future plans. These gatherings provide a platform for residents to voice their opinions and contribute to community initiatives. Meeting announcements and updates are often shared on their Facebook group, which serves as a hub for communication among members.
SARA's efforts have fostered a strong sense of community pride and involvement, making the Sydney area a more vibrant and connected place to live.
